Walk For Wards 2015

On Sunday 14th June 2015, the second Walk for Wards took place at Trebah Gardens near Falmouth, raising money for the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity.

Walk for Wards is part of a national initiative and at RCHT was used to raise funds for the Royal Cornwall, St Michael’s and West Cornwall hospitals. Walkers can raise money for individual wards, departments or RCHT’s general charitable fund.

The walk was supported by many departments and staff from within the hospital's trust together with local people who were keen to support their local hospital.

CHBN Scoops National Award

CHBN is delighted to have scooped the Silver Award for Best Special Event coverage at the National Hospital Radio Awards 2024, which took place in Winchester.

The programme provided direct live coverage of the concert given in the RCHT Chapel to celebrate last year's 75th anniversary of the NHS. The programme consisted of speeches given by staff, administrators, executives and patients, along with songs by the magnificent Four Lanes Male Choir.

Justin Leigh Visits CHBN Studio

Truro’s hospital and community radio station welcomed a very special guest into its new studio at the Royal Cornwall Hospital this weekend.

Spotlight front man Justin Leigh is also Honorary President of CHBN Radio, and this was his first chance to see the station’s new second studio which has been in operation since the station launched across the community on 100.8 FM in April 2014.

Around 15 of the station’s members were on hand to meet Justin and talk about what they do at CHBN.

CHBN and Sainsburys Truro to Support Comic Relief

CHBN were at Sainsburys in Truro on Friday 13th March 2015 to help staff and customers at the store raise money for Comic Relief.

The CHBN team were in the store foyer all day providing music and entertainment during the day to those who were fundraising.

All the activities in the store that day raised over £1,220 for Comic Relief.

In Conversation with... Mark Jenkins

Mark Jenkins was 'In conversation with...' Clive on Wednesday 25th February 2015.

He is a Cornish film producer who is Associate Lecturer in Media and the Moving Image at Falmouth University. Mark won the Copplestone Award in his early career and has recently been awarded the Nick Darke Award 2014. This will see Mark developing the film screenplay for the film about primitive artist Alfred Wallis, Old Iron.

Truro Hospital Radio Annual General Meeting

On Sunday 8th February, Truro Hospital Radio held its 2015 Annual General Meeting.

This meeting was an opportunity to reflect on and celebrate the many achievements of the charity over the previous year whilst also looking ahead and outlining the priorities for the coming year.

Truro Day 2014

CHBN were pleased to support the inaugural Truro Day that took place on Sunday 14th September 2014.

Mike Brown, Peter Dowsett, Johanna Dowsett, Jason Moyle and Jack Uterhark hosted a special 7 hour-long programme through the afternoon broadcast live from Boscawen Park in the centre of the city where the events were taking place.
