Your Community, Your Christmas

Christmas 2020 will be like no other. No matter our age, none of us can recall a time such as now. But crying “Bah! Humbug” and retreating into a bunker will not help. CHBN, Truro’s Community and Hospital Broadcasting Network, is hoping to bring a different kind of Christmas cheer this December, and we need your help.

What does Christmas mean to you? Whatever your age, you will have memories to share. This year marked the 75th anniversary of VE day and VJ day. Do you remember a wartime Christmas, with loved ones away and rationing at home? You may have spent Christmas in another country, with different customs and activities. We are looking too for contributions from singers, musicians, poets and storytellers, solo or choirs or bands, we need you all.

Do you have a favourite recipe you would like to share? We would also like to have suggestions for a different slant on decorating our homes for the season. How can we make this a Christmas to remember, for reasons other than our present reality?

During December we shall be broadcasting the best contributions from our listeners. We are particularly interested to hear from children, with their parents’ or their schools’ permission, and are planning prizes for stellar submissions.

The email address for this project is christmas@chbnradio.org. For more information, to find out how to submit, or if you have suggestions or comments, please get in touch.

The closing date for submissions is 1st December, 2020.
