Chaplains Christmas Appeal 2020

The Chaplaincy team at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust has launched its Christmas Appeal 2020.

They are fundraising for the purchase of individual mini radios for patients, in order to spread some joy at this time of year.

Sarah, one of the Chaplains said ‘As a team our role is to support patients, their families and our staff colleagues, and we are always thinking of creative ways we can do this. Especially at the moment we are conscious that patients are missing having visitors, and the day can be long, so a gift of an individual radio with headphones will make a difference to their day we hope.’

In conjunction with the Hospital Charity, the radios have been sourced by HBH Woolacott Electrical goods supplier here in the South West. Chris Hemmerle, one of the directors said ‘When we were approached about the appeal we knew straight away it would be something we would like to support. We are delighted to be subsidising and supplying the radios and we wish the team every success.’

Mark Richards, Lead Chaplain said ‘We are not so able to do as many patient bedside visits at present, so I’m really pleased we can give patients this sort of a boost. I know they will enjoy the variety of local radio stations as well as CHBN the Community and Hospital Station.’

The fundraising is being launched on Tuesday 1st December, and all donations can be given at:
