Welcome to CHBN - Community Radio for Truro

CHBN is the Community and Hospital Broadcasting Network.

Since 1980 we have broadcast to patients at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Treliske; St. Michael's Hospital in Hayle and the West Cornwall Hospital in Penzance. The charity “Truro Hospital Radio” was formed back in July 1980, although a Hospital Radio service in Truro dates back to the 1960s when it was called the “Patient’s Record Request Programme”.

Now, from Monday 14 April at 10.08 CHBN is building on that legacy by broadcasting to Truro and beyond from our studios in the Elizabeth Sanders Studio at the Royal Cornwall Hospital.
We can be found throughout the area shown below - and beyond! - on 100.8 FM.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust and all our Associates who are already supporting us. If you are interested in helping CHBN by becoming an Associate please download our Associates Package for more details.

The map (right) shows our approximate FM coverage area, where reception should be good, though we have had reports of good reception outside this area. For best results on portable sets we recommend you fully extend the telescopic aerial.
